Menu October 20 week for the Aging-Elderly

I created a menu to track what my Mother will actually eat. I made a menu for her in the hope that she will write on it what and when she ate, and any comments she might make.
I had this idea when I saw in her planner she marked down the exact time “meals on wheels” arrived. Sometimes a comment.

My reasons for the menu are:
Studying her food choices will interest her and make her think about something other than the endless loop in her mind.
She will plan and look forward to a meal, and maybe derive some pleasure from it.
And hopefully she will make notes what she thought, or the date and time so I can see what she chooses first.

I have a copy as well, so next week I can mark off what remains (I’m taking multiples of certain things I know she likes.

My freezer with the first round of meals. A bit messy and I work out labeling and containers. The biggest problem I initially face is her ability to open the container. Some types are difficult for me, so become impossible for her. The solution in the past was to open the lid, balance it loosely on top and put the entire thing in a plastic bag. She managed it, but it was messy, and visually a disaster.
This combination was a spur of the moment idea based on the fact she doesn’t eat tomato sauce (too much acid she claims). She is alright with paprika sauce.
